Chapter Eleven

Vincent

I was coming on way too strong, but after the decision I made with Kiera today, nothing was going to stop me from making Emily mine. I had a lot to figure out, like how the hell I was going to tell my parents that their little marriage proposal wasn’t going to happen, or how I was going to get Emily down that aisle in two weeks.

It would happen though.

Even if she had no idea about it.

The only ones that knew were me and Kiera. We wanted it to stay like that. We weren’t even going to tell Jason. We couldn’t risk our idea being blown. Kiera hated that she couldn’t tell Jason, but it was for the best or he might blab it by accident.

Perhaps my lack of communication was a bad move on my part, but it was a necessity. I needed time with Emily so when the wedding happened, there would be no hesitation on her part. When she’d meet me at the altar, our time would finally start and I wanted to tell her right then so damn bad, but the cold air made her shiver and that was when I noticed the door was open and the press was snapping photos.

I knew once we stepped out that door, rumors would fly. It wouldn’t be the first time we had to crush them, but when they circulated on the Internet tomorrow, I wasn’t going to deny a thing. Tonight, Emily would know how I felt about her.

And I’d finally get to live the life I wanted.

“Let’s have the night of our lives,” I told her as I held out my hand.

Her long lashes fluttered as she looked down at my hand and her slender fingers slid over my palm, causing the nerves beneath my skin to spark and travel right down to my cock. She fit perfectly, she always had.

Damn it, I was a fucking idiot to let so much time go by.

“Let’s go. Oh, will strippers be there?” she asked.

I buttoned my suit jacket as we exited the limo and laughed when I remembered seeing a stripper was on her bucket list. “You haven’t crossed that off your list yet?”

“No, I haven’t. I haven’t had the time. Why are we at the Ritz? It’s a hotel.”

“Yeah, but the best hotel with the best ballroom.”

“I thought you said it was just a few people?” she said, pulling the skirt of her dress down when she stood up straight. I tried to keep the lust out of my face. I did. The decision to finally go for this, this amazing thing between us, had snapped something inside my brain. My heart led me now. I made a mental note to tone it down a bit. I didn’t want to scare her away, especially when our relationship was on such rocky ground.

I held my elbow out while the cameras flashed, apparently my bachelor party was the event of the year and every journalist from every magazine in the city was there.
